Teachers' Zone - Preparation for summer
Our 'Staff Handbook 2010' is ready to send to recruited staff. Please see the above link.
All EFL Teachers should look at the following documents:
a sample rota for 6 weeks
the types of lesson you will teach
carrying out a needs analysis
some tips about lesson planning
the ultimate ELT inventory of resources
For EFL teachers that want to know more about teaching in the UK or bringing UK culture into the classroom please see www.britishcouncil.org/languageassistant - simply one of the best teachers' resources, check their links page and their Essential UK lessons on Britain and culture.
For those teachers with a really keen interest in young learners, we recommend becoming a member of IATEFL's special interest group. Some of the management attended IATEFL in Harrogate, UK, this April.
Look at our Links page for ideas and inspiration for working with children and/or teaching English. Our latest favourite is www.teflvideos.com for a good repetoire of tips in video format, online. And for really contemporary technology in the classroom ideas, try www.teachertrainingvideos.com.
Post summer job
The Directors at MC can also advise on teaching jobs and working conditions in many countries, and will provide a list of reliable job sites for ELT positions.
We will also happily advise on further study or relevant teacher development courses that take place in UK. We have contacts with many training centres both in UK and abroad. Obviously the ideas and knowledge of another 25+ teachers is even more valuable. Here is a good starting point for those that want to get abroad afterwards and need more advice on countries and courses: www.tesol-ua.org/teach-english or www.cactustefl.com.
