English On The Road and VIP Tours - in London

ENGLISH ON THE ROAD COMBINES A RESIDENTIAL ENGLISH COURSE AT HURST FOLLOWED BY A 4 DAY STUDY TOUR OF LONDON WHERE STUDENTS CONSOLIDATE THEIR LANGUAGE LEARNING BY EXPLORING THE CITY OF LONDON!

NEW! Manor Courses offers this programme to small groups.

The aim of these short study tours is to complement our more traditional English language course with extra experience off campus, away from the other international students, but with their teacher, “on the road”. Students will be accompanied by an experienced English teacher. On these fun and informative tours, students will practice their English while learning more about the country and culture of the language they are studying. Through culture it is easier to understand what makes a language function as it does, and seeing something with your own eyes gives you an appetite for wanting to learn more about it!

These tours are not part of our Residential English Language Course, they are extra, involving extra time (longer stay in UK) and extra fees.

Objectives of our English on the Road – the longer 4 Day Tour

This alternative Study Tour is designed to explore a wide range of topics and vocabulary- from sport, to art, to history, literature and science. There is a different theme with different attractions every day.

There is no formal classroom environment. This is a fluid, spontaneous course which takes advantage of the resources London and the UK have to offer and the emphasis is on communication and the real world.

The Complete London Team: Kitty & Fabio

The Teacher – Kitty Savignani

Kitty has been teaching English as a foreign language for over 25 years -15 of these as “madrelinguista” (native speaker) at Liceo Classico e Scientifico Ariosto Spallanzani in Reggio Emilia, Italy where she has taught not only language but British culture, history and geography to 15-18-year olds. She has the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ ELIC Diploma in Languages for International Communication as well as the Institute’s post-graduate Diploma in Translation (DipTrans) and various different TEFL qualifications, the most recent being the Cambridge TKT, which she took in 2016. She co-founded EOR with her husband, Fabio, in 2013 and they have spent the last 5 summers organizing and running these “alternative on the road study tours” around England and Scotland.

The Driver/ Assistant – Fabio Catellani

Despite originally studying chemistry Fabio started his working life doing what he most wanted to do – drive. He started off with buses and coaches and then went on to own his own haulage company. He has always loved driving and organizing trips and even drove to Siberia and back in a Fiat Punto in 2017. He has put these driving and organizational skills, his love for travel and all things British to good use by co-founding and running EOR with his wife, Kitty. He is the designated first aider and fire marshal and is jointly responsible for the smooth running of the courses and the students’ well-being and safety.

“I did English on the Road London 3 years ago but I still remember it as an amazing experience where I got to learn not only the English language but also English culture and to see it from a different point of view”

Giuditta F Reggio Emilia (student)

Filippo G. Reggio Emilia (student)
